John Russell Chapman was a methodist minister.
John married Charity Kennedy (Duncan) on 23 Aug 1838 Macoupin, IL license #404. John's first marriage was to Elizabeth Boyd 9 Aug 1835 Macoupin #193. John's parents were Richard Chapman b.22 Dec 1782 Tyrrell,NC son of Joseph Chapman and Jemima Caswell. Richard mar. 10 Nov 1808 Tyrrell,NC to Celia Davenport b. 12 Feb 1792 dau of Isaac Davenport and Anna Davenport. Celia died 1852 and buried in Chapman Cem, Mt. Olive, Macoupin, IL beside her husband.

They were mar. 1 Oct 1807 Lincoln, NC John and his brother Nathan moved into IN in the 1820's and into Macoupin,IL about 1832 Charity married a Kennedy in IN. The two Canada chidren on 1850 census claim IN as birth place.
